The Technology Academy for Virginia Beach schools is housed at Landstown High School. Completed in 2007, this 48,000-sf project added 24 classrooms, two science labs and 12 staff offices. The project was design to accommodate an increasing student population, a much-needed circulation system and an entry for the educational wings of the school. The free-standing addition was inserted between the two wings of the school, creating a new outdoor amphitheater. The addition is connected to the wings by glass bridges that form covered walks allowing students to enter and circulate at multiple locations, also increasing natural light in the educational corridors. The labs and classrooms are state-of-the-art facilities with full web connectivity, multiple video projection locations, and student voice/data network stations throughout. http://www.vbschools.com/school_renovation/schools/landstown_hs_addition.asp |
